Education & Planning Workshops
Social Security 101
Social Security Education Center’s purpose is to educate Americans on their benefit options. There’s no one right or wrong way to claim benefits, but we find when people are educated, they are confident that they are making the right decision for themselves.
Our Mission
To educate those approaching retirement about their Social Security options so that before they ever go to claim benefits, they have a plan and a strategy that they feel comfortable with.

Social Security 101 - Live Workshops
For many Americans, Social Security makes up a significant piece of their retirement. The value of a stream of monthly payments over the course of a married couple’s retirement is oftentimes well over $1 Million! Because of this, it is critical to have a plan and to have a strategy before you ever decide to turn on your Social Security benefits. That is what this workshop is dedicated to… helping you to formulate a plan and a strategy.

FAQs - Social Security Education Everyone Should Have!
What should I bring to the class?
How long is the class?
It’s usually about an hour and a half but could be a touch shorter or longer depending on the number of questions the class has.
We always take a break at the halfway point.
What happens after the class?
If you attend the workshop, you have the option to schedule a free Social Security strategy session with the instructor where you can receive one-on-one guidance as well as a Social Security report that will tell you when the optimal time for claiming benefits would be.
We would also love for you to join our Facebook group “Social Security Education Center + Tax & Retirement Tips” where you can get future questions about Social Security answered by our instructors as they inevitably come up.
Is somebody going to try to sell me something?
I’m not ready to claim Social Security yet. Should I not attend until I am?
What should I bring to the class?
I would like to attend a workshop but none of the listed times work for me…
We usually have one or two workshops per month and will keep the schedule updated here. However, we occasionally have some smaller classes that are not listed here that may be options for you.
Please reach out to Matt@RootsFirstFinancial.com for details.
